Goddess of Spring, Queen of the Underworld, Wife of Hades, Daughter of Zeus and Demeter and badass of the Greek world!
The story of Persephone and Hades is my absolute favourite, well the version I learnt at least. There are more than one versions of the tale and because it is only a myth no one will ever know the truth.
But the story I learnt was that instead of Persephone being kidnapped, she stumbled upon the Underworld one day and went to explore it, she discovered it wasn't as bad as everyone said and she infact liked it. At this point in time her name was Kore (meaning Maiden depending who you ask) and Hades found her in the underworld and was confused, but she liked it and stayed. Hades went with it and soon enough they married. But Demeter, Persephone's mother threw a FIT worthy of a Goddess and abandoned all her duties almost causing the end of mankind so Zeus (who normally causes the issue LETS BE HONEST) stepped in at this point cause otherwise all the mortals die and that would be no good and it was his job to settle this stuff. An agreement was reached and Persephone would spend what we now call summer and spring with her mother and autumn and winter in the underworld with Hades. It was said that the Greeks feared her more than Hades because Hades could be reasoned with but if you crossed Persephone? Boy you in trouble...she would be sweet and forgiving on all who were good before dying but the sinners? Yowch. When Persephone first went back to her Mother was when Zeus changed her name from Kore to Persephone which literally mean chaos bringer.
Persephone and Zeus have been depicted as having probably the most stable relationship of the gods which to me makes sense...poor Hera, one of the top honcho Goddesses being cheated on constantly with mortals because Zeus can't keep it in his pants.
Anyway that was the version of Persephone and Hades I learnt and I know it's different from what alot of people know but I felt like sharing it because Persephone is badass.
